DEATH SENTENCES.

TWO MURDER OASES. AWAITING CONSIDERATION. WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. For the first time in recent history the Executive Council of New Zealand has awaiting its consideration the question of confirming sentences of death in two murder cases. In the past there has never been more than one case at any one time. At Monday’s meeting of the Council, over which the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, will preside, consideration will probably he given to the case of Jolni Hubert Edwards, aged 41, who was convicted at Auckland on November 2 on a charge of murder. It is not likely that the case of George Edward James, aged 57, who was convicted of murder at Wellington, will be considered until the following week. No sentence of death can be carried out in the Dominion unless it is confirmed by the Executive Council.
