LAWN TENNIS CONTROL.

RESOLUTIONS BY COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. As soon as the purely formal business at last evening’s general meeting of the council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, presided over by the president, Mr H. li. Duncan, had been concluded, Mr N. A. Foden (Poverty Bay and East Coast) moved that the standing orders he suspended with a view tb dealing with a matter to be brought up by the Auckland delegates, He was referring to certain disagreements between the Auckland Association and the management committee of the New Zealand Association. Three and a-half hours later the delegates came out of committee and confirmed in open meeting the following resolutions previously passed: That the office of the present secretary is quite unsuitable as the head office of the parent body of New Zealand tennis. That it is essential that the New Zealand secretary should have an office staff in permanent attendance. It is felt that fuller information and a greater degree of confidence should be uiven to constituent associations by the New Zealand Association, especially with regard to proposed . ..sits of overseas teams and the financial commitments which may be incurred in that connection. It is considered that at least the associations should be consulted as often as possible when proposed visits are “in the air.” That in future a greater discretion be loft in the hands of local associations particularly as to the prices to be charged. Of the motions on the agenda paper one moved by Mr R. Wilson (South Canterbury) to the effect that New Zealand championship meetings should not clash with established provincial tournaments was withdrawn in favour of a motion to be moved at the next quarterly meeting by Mr H. Burns (Wellington) that the New Zealand championship dates should be fixed for a definite time each year. It was agreed that the annual subscriptions payable by affiliated associations for the year 1933-34 should be a minimum of 3d for each active member, of which Id per member be allocated to the junior championship account.
