(From Oitr Own Correspondent.) GLEN OROUA, Doc. 1. In connection with the Boys’ and Girls’ Calf Club competition, tho local judging was carried out at the school on Tuesday morning by Alessrs J. H. Mason (Feilding) and D. Loitch (Cheltenham). The former judged the entries for type, while the condition class was decided by Mr Loitch. In addition to parents and children interested, there were present Alessrs W. J. Crouchor (group supervisor), A. J. Galpin (Department of Agriculture), and W. C. Scott (local supervisor). Four calves were paraded before tho judges, and the awards in tho typo class went to Olive Lucas’s Clovclly’s Omega 1, Jim YVcbb’s Dapline 2, Fred Carter's Cherry 3. and Pat Sullivan’s Rita 4. In the condition class the same order was maintained, while a special prize presented by Mr E. Somcr for. tho best inanored calf was also won by Olive Lucas’s entry. After the judging, Messrs Mason and Loitch gave the competitors some useful advice regarding the roaring of calves, and demonstrated ceitain points taken into account in judging. Cheers were given by tho children for the judges and other officials connected with the movement, and for Air E. Somer for his continued interest in presenting annually a special prize. The following are the weather records supplied by tho school for the month of November: Average barometric pressure, 29.55 inches; average temperature 60.4 degrees; total rainfall, 1.98 inches; number of frosts, 1; prevailing wind, easterly. Mr and Mrs J. W. Lucas and family havo left Glen Oroua to take up their residence in the Waikato district. In the Tennis Club’s ladder competition, matches during the past week resulted as follow: Miss E. Phillips lost to Miss B. Wheeler, 3—6; Mbs V. Hobbs beat Aliss Phillips,' 6 —2; Miss N. Wheeler beat Miss O Farland, 6—o; E. Wheeler beat W. Scott, 7—5; Alias N. Wheeler lost to Miss Phillips, 3—6; L. H. Ilile lost to S. G, Parlane, I—6; J. Scott beat R,. Wheeler, 6—o. T’ho challengers are mentioned first in each case.
