ULSTER ELECTIONS
VICTORY FOR UNIONISTS. A SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITY. MR DE VALERA SUCCESSFUL. (United Press Association —By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received December 2, 11.7 a.m. RUGBY, Dec. 1. With the exception of the four Belfast University seats, the results of the general election in Northern Ireland have been announced as follow:
The Premier (Lord Craigavon) in a message to the Unionists, says that Ulster is again assured of five years’ resolute, settled government, “accompanied, I sincerely trust, by a period of peace, progress end prosperity.” “I will carry on encouraged and strengthened by this signal victory over the disruptive elements raised against our imperial stronghold,” the Premier added. The successful Fianna Fail candidate was Mr de Valera, who was elected for South Down. The South Down election result was:— Mr de Valera 7404 Mr McGrath (Republican) ... 622 Mr McGrath loses his deposit. Neither Air de Valera nor the Republican Mr AlcLogan intends taking his seat.
