QUEEN CARNIVAL.
BRIDGE PARTY. NURSES’ ASSOCIATION’S EFFORT. A very pleasant evening was enjoyed by those who attended tho bridge 'party organised by memlrers of the Manawatu branch of the Trained Nurses’ Association, in aid of the Blurilcet and Nursing Services Queen (Miss Joan Barnett), which was held in Messrs Collinsou and Cunninghamo’s rooms on Tuesday night. Every table was filled and very pleasant play resulted, the conclusion, of activities finding Mrs Luke returning the highest score, while Mrs Moiildcy won the prims for tho bidden number. At a suitable juncture supper was served by the committee, the members of which made every endeavour to make tho gathering thoroughly enjoyable.
MASQUERADE BALL TO-NIGHT. Tho !rmnqnern<lo ball, to bo held in i.ho D<: Luxe Hall to-night, has been waited for with eager expectation, and a record number of dancers is expected, inquiries respecting this event have been received from centres an fur apart as Wellington and Wanganui. Spot-light, streamer, mir-ror-hall und other novelty dances will ho a feature of the evening, which will ho furtlicr enhanced by tho mimic to bo played by (.finny MacPliorson arid his Royal Amb.'eettdor Band. All the latest and milch of tho older music will he rendered by this fine combination of instrumental soloists. Masks are to he worn by all dancers until midnight, at which time all will reveal their concealed identities. The Public Services' Queen, Mies Kathleen Richards, will he present at lliis function, which is the last major effort on her behalf. ,
