MILSON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, Oct. 29.

All previous records for attendance at the weekly dances conducted by the Milson Progressive Association were broken last night when a most enjoyable programme : of old time dance was indulged in.' Mr H. Dowhurst was M.C. and his untiring efforts : kept the dancers busy and assured partners for all. Primarily instituted to aid learners to master the steps of dances, the [popularity of the evenings has eclipsed tho expectations of the most sanguine of the promoters, and the evenings have developed into something in the nature of family dances, tho attendance at each havj ing shown a markod increnso oil that of its predecessor. Mr Spencer, at the piano, | supplied items in keoping with the oldtime nature of the programme, and was relieved by Mr S. Toon with much appreciated extras. As on each of the previous occasions, a committee of .ladies donated and served a dainty supper. , The fine spell of weather lately prevailing in the district was broken over the week-end when warm, steady rain fell, This has proved of considerable benefit, as crops and pastures were beginning to assume a bare appearance. A noticeable improvement is already in evidence in the lawns and kitchen gardens. Friends of Mr J. C. A. Donaldson will be pleased to learn that ho has sufficiently recovered from his recent illness to resume duty.
