MR ATMORE’S ADDRESS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I heard Mr Atmore, M.P., say at tlio Opera House on Thursday evening last “that the Primo Minister (Mr Forbes) and others had voted to take Is 9d per week off the old age pensioners’'; “that they reduced the amounts payable to the widows for the upkeep of herself and family by 10 per cent”; “that they were doing many things as instructed by Sir Otto Niemeyer and his English friend (Mr Guggenheim Gregory) that were in the interests of the banks and therefore opposed to the interests of the people of this Dominion”; etc., etc. Mr Atmore was frequently applauded, therefore his remarks must have been appreciated by quite a number; but I have grave doubts if the Douglas Credit people improved their position in the district by importing an advocate, who may lie considered by some to “blow hot and cold.” As a matter of fact, Mr Editor, 1 ain given to understand that he is the last person in the Dominion who should say the things he did say knowing that certain Government records are still in existence. Perhaps one of your readers could oblige me with copies of Hansard for March and April ot 1931.—Yours faithfully. • J. HODGENS.
