SCHOOLBOY’S TIME OF 4MIN. 26 4-SSEC. LOVELOCK’S PERFORMANCE BETTERED. ' Per Press Association. TIMARU, Oct. 28. V. P. Boot smashed J. E. Lovelock’s 1928 mile record of 4min. 44 2-ssec. in a special attempt in the senior championship race at the Timaru Boys' High School sports this morning. Boot, who was not paced after a circuit and a half, established a. new record in the sensational time for a schoolboy of 4min. 26 4-ssec. The laj> times were 67sec., 61sec., 68sec., 60 4-ssec. Earlier in the week Boot lowered Lovelock’s 880-yard record of 2mi.n. 5 l-ssec., clipping off 5 l-ssecs.. doing the distance in 2 minutes dead.
