NURSE KILLED.
HEART PIERCED BY SULKY SHAFT. Aliss Doxie Edgerton, aged 18, a nurse, met a shocking death when returning to her home at Burrowa (N.S.W.) for a holiday. The motor car in which she was riding with her mother came into collision -with a sulky, the shaft of which pierced her through the heart. Airs Edgerton suffered severe injuries, including broken ribs, and is in a very serious condition. She is prostrated with grief and shock. Miss Edgerton was met at Binalong railway station by her mother, and they were being driven to their home at Burrowa by Air Carroll, of Burrowa. When they were within five miles of their destination, on the main Binalong read, the collision occurred with the sulky, which was owned by a local drover. One of the shafts narrowly missed striking Air Carroll. Miss Edgerton was occupling the back seat of the car, and the shaft struck her and penetrated her heart. The point of the shaft penetrated the back of the car after leaving her body, and it had to be sawn before Miss Edgerton’s body could be released.
