ANGLERS’ CLUB MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODVILLE, Sept. 27. The annual meeting of the Woodville Anglers’ Club, last evening, was largely attended. Air S. Turnbull presided. A most successful season is anticipated. The president, in bis report, stated that the past season had been successful, fishermen enjoying good sport, and some creditable bags being secured. The competitions had been keenly contested, and ho extended congratulations to Dannevirke on winning the Stockwell Cup. A total of 15,000 fry were liberated by the curator (Mr J. Anderson). Tho balance-sheet showed the club to be in a sound position. Officers were elected as follow for tlie ensuing year: Patron. Air \V. H. Nelson; vice-presidents, Alessrs R. G. Smith, P. G. YVigzell, C. Alackie, R. Bly, F. Ebbett; committee, Alessrs K. Retter, W. H. Nixon, F. D. Alackie C. Hayes, J. Bryson, D. Clarke, J. Cullen, W. Miller and E. Pritchard; secretary and treasurer, Air J. T. Horne. The president appealed to an glen; to join the club. It was decided to hold a competition on the opening day. A smoke concert followed, when numerous visitors from Feilding, Dannevirke and Pahiatua clubs were entertained. VETERINARY ASSOCIATION. Tho first annual meeting of tho Veterinarv Service Association was held last evening at the R.S.A. Club. The chairman (Air Blatchford) presided over a large attendance of farmers from various districts in the association. An interesting fact in the chairman’s report was the increase in membership from 87 to 141 within the last 12 months. The retiring members of the committee, Alessrs Blatchford, Sinclair and Beattie, were re-elected. A committee consisting of Alessrs Blatchford (chairman). T. A. B. Sinclair (secretary), Mason (veterinary surgeon) and Alessrs Corpe, A’lurray and Turner was appointed to formulate a scheme as to factories paying the veterinary surgeon a salary. The scheme is to be submitted to a general committee consisting of directors representing tlie various factories in the scheme, the members being as follow: Alessrs A. Hansen (Te Reliunga), L. Iloldaway (Ballnnce Valley), Corpe (Riverbank). J. Hutcheson (Papatawa), C. Armstead (Hopelands), E. Harding (United) T. Sinclair (YVoodville), Gibson (Tararua) R. C. Yates (Alangahoa). Several members spoke in appreciative terms of the work of the secretary (Air T. A B. Sinclair) and the veterinary surgeon (Mr Alason), and a vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. The committee of the Woodville District High School held a meeting on Monday evening. Tlie chairman (Mr R. R. Johnston presided). The headmaster (Mr G. YV. Slane) presented the following report: _The roll numbers and average attendances for the last month were as follow : Primary roll, 283, average 268; secondary roll, 42, average 38. On September 4th Air’ll J. Schischka took over his duties in place of Air Finer and Air F. S. Pickett replaced Aliss J. R. YVliite. Mr Hurdes(ield, agricultural instructor, visited the school on September 12, 13 and 14. 110 o'ave us some very helpful advice. On September 9 our 6st 71b football team played Dannevirke South School in the final of the cup competition. YY 7 oodvillo won 12 3 and will receive the cup when the name of the school lias been engraved thereon. The same day. our three primary school basketball teams played against Dannevirke South. Mr R- J. Schiselika and Aliss E Ale Lean travelled with the teams. Our High School football team won the 4th grade cup of the Bush Rugby Union. A fine japonica tree was given to the school bv Mr Knapp. We appreciate his thoughtful action and admire tbo healthy specimen lie sent.
