NOW 109 s. UPWARD TENDENCY FOR CHEESE. The prico of butter is still _ rising .in London, and at prosent thoro is ho sign of any check in the advance. On Wednesday Now Zealand finest salted was selling at 109$, a rise of 7s a cwt since last Friday. The cheese market is firm, with an upward tendency. W. Wcddol and Co., Ltd., London, report, dated September 20: —Butter: Danish, 120 s. New Zealand finest, 109 s. Kangaroo, 109 s. Cheese: New Zealand, whito, 545. Now Zealand coloured, 555. Markets firm. ' The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., have received the following advice from their London house, dated September 20:—Dairy produce (quotations at. September 19 in parentheses) Butter, Now Zealand choicest salted, finest, 109 s (105 s) ; first grade, 106 s per cwt (102 s). Cheese, white, 54s per cwt (52s 6d to 535) ; coloured, 55s per cwt (53s 6d to 545). Market firm with upward tendency. FROZEN MEAT. LAMB MARKET UNCHANGED. Light lambs and second quality show no chango; heavy weights are |d lower; light wethers |d lower; heavy, no change; ewes, |d to Id lower. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., rcpoit having held their usual sale at Taihapc on Wednesday, when a fair varding of sheep and a small entry of cattle were submitted to a good attendance of buyers. There was good competition for all classes of sheep and a total clearance was effected at prices satisfactory to vendors. The class of cattle yarded were of indifferent quality and were dull of calc. Market quiet. INCREASED PROFITS. SYDNEY, Sept. 21. Myers Emporium, Limited, Melbourne, discloses a profit of £206,275 for the year, compared with £154,295 for the previous year. The directors have declared a halfyearly dividend at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum. WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE. YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Business was again brisk on tho Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, au- . other 23 sales being rcobrded. Values generally wore very firm in response to a keen demand. Government loans and local body debentures were quieter, with little or no change in quotations and few sollors showing. Banks continued active, nine sales being recorded. New Zealand ordinaries wore again easier, a salo boing made on ’change at 46s 3d, but tho long-term mortgage shares sold firmly at 345. Union of Australia were again done at £lO 6s 6d. There ~wcrc three sales of National of | New Zealand at 85s 6d, and one at 85s, late buyers remaining in at the former price. New South Wales firmed to £33 10s, but sellers held for £34 ss. Gas shares wore again active, Auckland and Christchurch having business at firm rates. | There was a good demand for insurance, moat, and shipping shares. New Zealand Refrigerating paid were done at 19s 3d, more being wanted at tho prico, and tho 10s paid sold on ’change at 9s 9d. Wellington Woollen prcfcronco advanced to £5 10s without response. New Zealand Breweries were easier on a sale at 36s 6d, late buyers offering 6d less. There was . a strong and well spread demand for miscellaneous industrials, which were fully firm.
