(From Our Own Correspondent ) SHANNON, Sept 11. Uralci defeated Shannon in an inter-club golf match played at Shannon on Saturday, by 14 games to 8. The following are the scores (Shannon players mentioned first) : Blyth lost to Winterburn, C. Stern , to Holmes, H. Stern halved with H Ath, Ventry-Smith lost to Tahiwi, Morgan halved with Wills, Mabey lost to Andereon, Campbell halved with J. D. Brown, Hennessey defeated Wilkinson. Pope halved with J. Wilson. McLean defeated Gray, Mark won from Benge, Bovis lost to St George, Taylor halved with Young, Blackwood lost to Holmes, Cronquest lost to Bishop, Graham won from Ryder, Moody halved with Dicham, Robinson lost to Harper, Curran halved with Morgan In the four-ball game Blyth and C. Stern lost to Winterburn and Holmes, H. Stern and Ventry-Smith lost to D’Ath and Tahiwi, Morgan and Mabov won from - Wills and Anderson, Campbell and Hennessey won from Brown and .Wilkinson, Pope and McLean won from Wilson and Gray. Mark and Bovis won from Benge and St. George, Taylor and Blackwood lost to Young and Holmes, Cronquest and Graham lost to Bishop and Ryder, Moody and Robinson lost to Dicham and Harper. The return match between Te Matai and Shannon will be played at Shannon next Saturday and the local ladies will journey to Te Matai. A game against Manawatu ladies will be played at Shannon on Friday. The total unemployed registrations at present is 75. a
A successful card party was held by the Plunket Society on Friday night, Mrs Porter and Mr D. Harris being the prizewinners.
A beeswax firo at- the residence of Mr C. Young brought out the brigade on Saturday afternoon, but no damage was done.
