PARK FOR CITY.

STEP IN CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 11. Tire trustees of Monica Park, formerly the headquarters of League football in Christchurch, have offered to hand over the ground, which consists of 28J acres, to the ctiy, provided that they can, by an art union, raise sufficient to clear the land of encumbrances. These amount, in the total, to £II,OOO. When tire proposal was before the City Council to-night, Cr. J. K. Archer protested against any scheme fostering gambling. He found only two supporters, however, and the council, by 12 votes to 3, agreed to accept the offer and support the request for an art union.
