At to-day’s meeting of the Kairanga County Council a letter was received from the secretary 0 f the Milson Progressive Association stating that it was held that the Milson Hall was a private meetinghouse and was not a hall within the meaning of the Act requiring it to be licensed. It was decided to reply that the hall was considered as much a public hall as others in the county and the license fee was required. A guardsman who threw his cap down pn the barracks square while drilled at Aldershot was found guilty at a district court-martial oi disobeymg the order of a superior oflicer who ordered him to pick it up, and sentenced to 28 days’ detention.
