RED POLL CATTLE.

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. BREEDERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Red Poll Cattle Breeders’ Association was held at the National Dairy Show to-day, Mr J. W. Harding, of Waipukurau, presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Donaldson and N. Inder. The president’s report stated that the year began with 79 members. During the period two names were struck off and ten members had resigned, while six new breeders had been enrolled, so that the year closed with 73 members. The income 1 of the association had been well maintained, and in some directions- a slight increase was shown. The safe valued at £l7 16s had disappeared from the assets, the explanation being that it had been rendered useless by burglar’s gelignite. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, stated that they had come through the year very satisfactorily. He regretted to have to announce the death of Mrs M. Grant, of Mosgiel, an enthusiastic supporter of the association, who had also been associated with the early history of the Clydesdales, her father having imported the first horse of that breed into the country.—The report was adopted. The patron of the association, Sir It. Heaton Rhodes, was unanimously re-elected. Mr A. It. Miers was reappointed auditor. The retiring members of the council, Messrs H. G. Bryant, G. R. For-ster-Pratt, W. Loask and G. McLeod, were re-elected unopposed. Subsequently, a meeting of the council of the association was held. Mr J. W. Harding was re-elected president unopposed, and Messrs J. Donaldson and W. Loask were similarly returned as vice-presidents. The executive committee, consisting of Messrs L. C. Anderson, J. W. Harding, G. R. Forster-Pratt, G. McLeod and L. J. Wild, was re-elected. Mr Wild was re-elected lion, secretary and treasurer, and was appointed delegate to the annual conference of the Royal Agricultural Society, Appreciation was expressed of the work of the president and hon. secretary during the year.
