PAHIATUA, May 8. Cr S. Bolton presided over the monthly meeting of the Pahiatua County Council, held on Saturday. There were also pre-ant Crs C. Ilodgins, T. Fouhy, A. W. Bisset, F. T. Horne, F. Y. Bryant, C. Lassen, H. R. Whitta and J. R. Nelson. Recently there was a suggestion that the name of the- No. 342 Makuri-Coonoor-Mangafcoro Highway be changed to the Ongaha-Man-gatoro .Valley. The Pahiatua County suggested that the name be Makuri-Ongaha via Mangatoro Valley. The Highways Board replied agreeing to alter the name to “Makuri-Ongaha.” The Masterton County Council forwarded allocation of heavy traffic fees for the year ended March 31, 1933. The Pahiatua County collected in fees £441 9s 8d and was allocated £460 6s 3d. Pahiatua subscribed the second highest, sum in fees of any local body in tho No. 10 district. The clerk was instructed to investigate: (a) The contemplated saving under the Local Authorities Interest Reduction Act being used for sinking fund purposes; (b) that he take up with the Public Trustee the question of changing sinking fund loans to instalment, repayment; (c) the question of extending the term of sink ing fund loans he investigated. Accounts amounting to £2299 15s 7d were passed for payment. The following are Saturday’s Bush Rugby results: —Senior: Mangatainoka 51 v Nireaha 13; Konini 3 v. Hamua 0. Junior: Ballance 16 v. Mangatainoka 3; Rongomai 3 v. Hukanui 14; Eketahuna 3 v. Newman 0.
