PRENDERGAST BEATS McEWAN. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, May 7. In a scheduled 15 rounds contest at Tuatapere on Saturday night Frank Prcndergast (list 21b) knocked out George McEwan (list 41b) in the sixth round. The contest was not for the New, Zealand middle title of which McEwan is the holder. Prendergast was the recent lightheavy amateur champion of. Southland and fought in the light-heavy and heavy classes at the last New Zealand championships. He has now challenged McEwan for the title, the bout to be fought ih Invercargill probably in four weeks’ time.
