CYCLE ROAD RACE.
Tho Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held a 14-inile road race last evening. Tho 15 starters included many new and promising riders. Results were as follow: J. Clark (lOrnin) 1, G. Eglinton (10 min) 2, L. Hayes (7jinin) and D. Thomas dead heat, 3. Fastest times. —D. Hobbs (smin) 36min 51scc; L. Cooksley (smin) 37rnin 7scc; G. Little (6min) 37min 37sec. The course consisted of two laps of tho Gillespie’s Line block. At the end of the first lap Clark and Eglinton, riding strongly, wore clear of Hayes and Thomas, closely followed by Little, H. Gardiner, James and Woolle'tt. Tho next hunch, Walker, Hobbs, Jennings and Cooksley, wore well clear of Eade and Cowburn. Bodell withdrew with machine trouble. In a welljudged sprint Clark drew away from his co-marker, Eglinton, the third place men being some distance behind.. The race was ridden in exceptionally fast time.
