HIMATANGI-RANGIOTU HIGHWAY.

This week the tar-sealing • contractors who some time ago carried out the work of sealing the Foxton-Himatangi highway, commenced an overhaul of their machinery, which has been idle for over twelve months. When interviewed by a “Standard” representative, last evepihg, Mr W. E. Barber (chairman of the Manawatu County Council) stated that he was unable to give any information as to highway matters until after the next meeting of the Manawatu County Council, but stated that he had been in Wellington on matters relative to highways work. Engineers have been inspecting the highway and it is understood, from a reliable that it is intended to commence forthwith with the experimental sealing of one mile of the Himatangi-Rangiotu highway.—l oxton correspondent.
