SEVEN PROVINCES.
WARNING UNHEEDED. Received February 9, 1 p.m. BATAVIA, Eeb. 8. The Governor-General, in the course of a speech, said that the Government would take sharp measures against the Seven Provinces as soon as the means thereto arrived on the spot. It is stated that' the crew will be summoned to deliver the ship and surrender unconditionally or be sunk. The battleship has sent a wireless message to its own captain, who is aboard the Eridanus as follows: “Please inform the higher authorities that we have no Communistic leanings and violence was not intended. We will surrender in conformity with our earlier message. —(signed) The European and Native Crew.” It is revealed that a police officer warned the commander of the Seven | Provinces that the natives would take [the ship when the officers were ashore. The commander did not heed the warning ‘ which he considered nonsense. The police officer watched the cruiser 1 leave the harbour, but could no nothing.
