While the sclioolhouso at Grunewald, Germany, was being repaired a giant stork’s nest was found built of sticks as thick ns an arra and of reeds, straw, moss and hay. Three feet high and nearly 6ft. across, this bird’s house was twice the size of an ordinary stork’s nest. Owing to the reduction in naval personnel, the Admiralty lias withdrawn the concession whereby ratings can obtain discharge by purchase or on compassionate grounds.
