DIVORCE DIFFICULTIES. Complicated legislation would be necessary to assist Englishwomen who married Dominion soldiers during the war, and were deserted without the means of livelihood, and with children to oare for ; according to the AttorneyGeneral, Sir T. Inskit). Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Sir Thomas said it would be difficult to legislate in order to permit them to obtain divorces in Britain instead of in their husbands’ countries. It would necessitate altering tlie British divorce laws, and reciprocal legislation in Britain and the Dominions. The position, went on Sir Thomas, was partially met by existing legislation, which permitted the enforcement of British maintenance orders in the Dominions.
