FEARS FOR SAFETY. ST. JOHN’S (Newfoundland), Dec. 6, Fears that the salvage tug Sand- , beach, with a crew of eighteen, has : been lost in a heavy south-west gale, j are strengthened by the finding of a ; seaman’s body in one of the vessel’s ; lifeboats on the shore of St. George’s j Bay to-day, and a second body later in : the same vicinity. The Sandbeach left Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, for Halifax, Nova Scotia, on December 2, and has not been reported since.
