WHALE OIL.
SEASON’S PRODUCTION BOUGHT. LONDON, Dec. 7. Unilever, Ltd., have purchased the whole of the 1932-33 season’s production of whale oil at an estimated cost of £3,500,000. The news is welcome, as last year many whaling companies were unable to negotiate sales owing to over-production in the 1930-31 season.
The price- of oil for the present season is about £l3 per ton, which should yield the companies a small profit if catches in the Antarctic are up to the estimate.
