Sir George Fowlds, chairman of the Massey Agricultural College Council, is visiting Palmerston North.

M. C. McGregor was reported by tHe Hospital authorities to-day to have passed a fairly good night. His condition is much about the same.

Mr F. G. Matthews, formerly private secretary to the Minister of Defence, Hon. J. G. Cobbe, who lias retired on superannuation, was entertained by members of the Ministerial secretarial corps yesterday in Wellington. Speakers referred to Mr Matthews’s long association with the corps and the high esteem in which he was held, and tributes were paid to his work in several responsible positions.
