SUDDEN ILLNESS

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 7. When tire sloop H.M.S. Laburnum was anchored at Kawau this evening, Petty-Officer W. Hitchcock became suddenly ill, and the vessel made a hurried return to port. The Laburnum left Kawau at 8.45 p.m., arriving in the harbour at 10.45 p.m. A pinnace from H.M.S. Diomede was waiting, and Petty-Ofh-cer Hitchcock, whose condition was serious, was rushed ashore to a waiting ambulance and taken to the Auckland Hospital.
