PERSONAL.

A London message states that the Earl of Cavan succeeds the late Lord Methuen as Field-Marshall. Mr D. F. Reid, who was manager of the Bank of New Zealand in Palmerston North several years ago, and has been appointed to take charge of the Bank’s business in London, was a visitor to Palmerston North yesterday and to-day.
