(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOKOMARU, Nov. 22. The many friends of Mrs R. Carmichael will bo pleased to hear that she has returned to her homo after being an inmate of tho Palmerston North Hospital. Mrs J. Gilmour is visiting relations in the South Island. . . , On Saturday evening a surpnso party organised by Miss Stokes enjoyed a pleasant evening at tho residence of Mr and Mrs L. Poach. It was a “gift evening to Miss Edna Crawford. Mr R. Baylis, in a neat speech, asked Miss Crawford to. accept tho gifts. Mr H. Poach suitably responded on behalf of the bride-elect. Iho hours were devoted to games and dancing. Miss M. Atkinson contributed songs and tho music was supplied by Mr Baylis and Mrs R. Atkinson. Miss Crawford was attired in brown and orango tweed and Mrs Peach woro navy and fawn crcpe-de-chino. Others present were: Mr and Mrs R. Baylis Mrs R. Atkinson, Mrs L. Jarmson, Mr and Mrs J. Mac Nab, Miss C. Jamison, Miss V. Voss, -Mrs A. Booth, Mr and Mrs S Kennard, Mrs Sherlock, Misses K., M., and B. Sherlock, Mrs D. Waugh, Miss M. Atkinson, Miss M. Hcwison, Miss D. Stokes, Mrs F. Gyde, Mrs H. Messrs 11. Peach, D. Peach, J. Dalziel, IC. Voss, A. Voss ’J. Young, B. Stokes and J. Gyde. Competitions were won by Mr H. Pcacli and Miss Voss-fmotor cars), and Mr B Stokes and Mrs Waugh (chain cushions).
