AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. Per Press Association. HERETAUXGA. Nov. 7. Additional scores in the first round of tlio amateur golf championship are as follow: Goss 2 up on Warren. H. A. Black 5 up on Ekstedt. Horton 1 up on Fergtisson. Toswill 1 up on Hu'^'ins. Wright 10 up on Branch. J. L. Black 12 up on Holmes. Reilly 2 up on Bidwill. J. D. G. Duncan 3 up on Fisher. Mills 2 up on M. Blundell. Fryer 3 up on Peacock. M. H. Duncan 9 up on Mortland. O’Callaghan 2 up on Collins. The only good score in the professional matches was Moss’s round of 70. Harold Black was good in all departments and went round in 72. Ekstedt was weak on the greens but otherwise was playing well. Black is 5 up. B. J. Smith, junr., showed only moderate form to be three up on Minogue. Jack Black was out in 30 and back in 33 to bo 12 up on Holmes. Black jiutted remarkably well. Horton and Ferguson both went round in about 75. Goss (Wanganui) did 74 to stand 2 up on Warren (Masterton) who took 76. dtost of the holes in the first half were halved. The game was square at the ninth. They halved the 10th, 12th and 14th. Warren won the 11th and loth. Goss won the 13th in 5 and the 16th, 17th, and 18th in 3,4, 4. J. Duncan was tlrreo up at the turn on Fisher. Twice he stymied his opponent. He got two at the fifteenth. Fisher came back well in 36. Wright was out in 36 and continued this form to be 10 up on Brascli. Reilly was two up at the turn on Bidwill who squared the game at the fourteenth. Reilly finished in 3 34 4, winning the sixteenth and eighteenth to be two up. The cards were about 74.
