REQUEST DECLINED
NO MONEY AVAILABLE FOR ROAD. Per Press Association. TANGARAKAU, Nov. 7. Thai there is no immediate prospect of money being made availab’e for the completion of tho new TauainniunuiTokaanu Road was indicated by the Ministerial reply given to a representative deputation which interviewed AJessrs Forbes and Coates on the special train to-day. The deputation comprised representatives of the Tatimarunui Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce, Farmers’ Union, returned soldiers and others. Air F. Langstone, ALP., who introduced tho deputation, said the length of tho new road would he 30 mdes against 78 miles traversed by tho present route. Tho expenditure to date had been £7500. If the work was completed, thousands of acres of good bush country would be opened up which, when milled, would provide first class settlement land. Tho road would afford an outlet to timber growing on vast areas in the locality. The reply of the Alinisters was that, while the importance of the work was recognised, it was a question of finance. At present no money was available for a continuation of the work and there were no immediate prospects of funds being provided.
