GOLDFIELDS RUSH.
DIFFICULTIES OF TRANSPORT. SYDNEY, Oct. 10. Reports indicate that there will be a big rush to the Granites goldfield in the Northern Territory before the wet season closes the tracks. Men reach Alice Springs by various means, including aeroplanes, but these cannot land at the Granites, so goldseekers have to use trucks or camels, or walk to the field, where there is only one small store and one well producing a scanty supply of water. The heat, flies and dust render stringent health conditions necessary. Aboriginals in the neighbourhood are said to be acting in a menacing manner.
