PEOPLE’S SAVINGS.

HIGH AVERAGE IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 30. Addressing a conference of the National Savings Association at Oxford to-day, Sir Robert Kindersley stated that the small savings of Great Britain totalled £2,256,000,000, or £SO per head of the population. Sir Robert referred to the calm and patriotic attitude maintained by the holders of savings certificates during the crisis and their action in refraining from presenting their certificates for encashment. Those in authority knew that the great mass of the people could l>o relied on to show common sense, and it was this policy of trusting the people to do what was right that was British.
