A Rugby wireless message states that the condition of Mr Winston Churchill remains satisfactory and bulletins in future will be issued only once daily. The Earl of Mar and Kellie, the premier Scottish Earl, died on Friday night at the age of 64 years (states a Rugby wireless message). He was the thirty-fourth earl. Captain W. L. Jackson, D. 5.0., R.N., who is to relieve Commander Morgan, C.M.G., of H.M.S. Veronica, arrived at Wellington by the Remuera from London yesterday. * Mr C. C. Ruby, who has been appointed to the managership of the Masterton branch of the Bank of Australasia, will be succeeded by Mr T. E. Thompson, the present manager of the Bank of Australasia at Eltham. It is understood (says a Parliamentary reporter) that the Legislative Council will elect a chairman of committees on Friday next to succeed Mr E. H. Clark. Two likely candidates are Mr G. J. Smith (Canterbury) and Mr J. A. Hanan (Otago). A motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr H. Akers, of Opiki, who w-as a member of the Makerua Drainage Board, was passed by the Manawatu Drainage Board to-day when members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr Akers.
