Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. Aug. 29. John David Dennis, aged 21, formerly junior clerk in the office of the Rodney County Council, appeared for sentence to-day, alter a week in custody. for stealing £SO belonging to the council. The Magistrate said that Dennis had been under the influence of his superior officer who had tried to shelve the blame on to Dennis. He would be convicted and placed on probation foxtwo veai-s.

No order was made for restituticm, counsel stating that £SO. plus £l3 10s wages, due to Dennis, had been received in restitution by Dennis's superior officer and so far it could not be proved what had happened to the money.
