NURSES ENTERTAINED.

FAREWELL EVENING,

Two popular members of the nursing staff of the Palmerston North Hospital, Nurses M. Martin and N. Palmer, were entertained at a farewell party held in the nurses’ home on Friday evening. The majority of the nurses were in fancy costume, those present being as follow Nurses F. Davis. Scotch Lassie; O. Cheer, Professional Golfer; L. Doyle, Jap; A. Campbell, One of the Staff; N. Brown, Goldilocks; N. Goldsmith and Richardson, Bride and Groom; V. Pearce, Scarlet Runner; K. ltuwhiro, A Gentleman; J. Blixt, the Mystery Woman; P. Tweeddale, Canadian Bud Fighter; G. Kohn, Percy Off the Yacht; J. Tuck, Baggy Breeches. Other guests of honour were Miss J. McGhio (matron), Drs. Heycock and Craig, and sisters on the staff. Dancing, singing and several items contributed to rhe enjoyment, the following programme being presented : Recitation, “Cohen at the ’Phone,” Miss J. Tuck; a humorous sketch, “Kitty on the Keys,” Nurses in • Palmer, A. Campbell and F. Hansen; dance (burlesque), P. Tweedale, and V. Pearce; uniform drill, C. Smith and J. Horner; song, Nurse K. Ruwhiri. A “Mannequin Parade,” which provoked much mirth, was a fitting climax to an entertaining programme, the performers being Nurses O. Cheer, A. Campbell, J. Tuck, G. Kohn, V. Pearce and P. Tweeddale. The accompaniments lor the evening were played by Nurses N. Browne, A. Campbell and G. Kohn. The supper arrangements were supervised by the home sister (Sister Henderson), and the supper was daintily served during the course of the evening.

During an interval, the opportunity was taken by Miss McGhie, on behalf of the nursing staff, to present small tokens of appreciation and friendship to Nurses M. Martin and N. Palmer.
