THE WEATHER
Pressure is still highover the northern Tasman Sea and the greater part of New Zealand, but one of a series of westerly depressions is passing in the south. Northerly to north-west-erly winds, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in places south of New Plymouth and Napier. Seas rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. North to west winds in the eastern Tasman Sea. Moderate in the northern portion with moderate seas and strong to gale foroe in the southern portion with rough seas. Weather unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect south of Kawhia, with rain developing and heavy falls probable on the West Coast of the South Island. Elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures mild in the eastern districts. DISTRICT REPORT. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day: The indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale. The weather will probably prove squally and changeable, with frequent showers. The barometer is unsteady.
