GOSPEL ADDRESS.

THE ETERNAL STATE. The subject taken on Sunday night by .Mr Wesley E. Richards, the pastor of the United Evangelical Church, that of, “Will a Loving God punish any of His creatures forever?” created much interest. Reading from Num. 16: 30-35 with Isa. 33: 12; also 2 Peter 3: 1-10, and other Scripture bearing on Hie subject, Pastor Richards drew attention to the very positive statements concerning the nature of the conscious eternal punishment that would be inflicted on those who continue to despise in this life, the blood of Jesus Christ, which alone is the passport into eternal bliss, “Heat increases,” stated Pastor Richards, “as wo descend into the bowels of the earth and hence many scientific men have held that ‘the interior of our globe is a reservoir of liquid firo’; while a leading geologist has stated that ‘there was going on in the interior of the earth an accumulation of heat which might some day burst its bonds and convert the globe into a fiery mass.’ ” These statements, intimated the preacher, were in full accord with what the Bible had to state concerning these matters. “In 2 Peter 3: 1-7 we had a statement which has a distinct bearing on the condition that will eventually obtain throughout the world. In v. 3 the scoffers are brought before us. In vs. 5 and 6 Noah’s flood; while in v. 7 we are shown that God is again going to deal with the world in universal judgment. Those who deny what God lias so plainly revealed in regard to the eternal condition of the finally impenitent are surely on very dangerous ground, Pastor Richards said.
