JUNIOR FOOTBALL.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —There not being a reply by tho Rugby Council to any one of tlm statements that have appeared in your columns regarding the junior competition —though I know it is hard for tho council to reply to statements that are facts—l challenge the president or any of the members to reply to the letters or this one. Coining again to tho treatment of the Bumiythorpe Club and players, I notice that “Side Lino” drew attention to the difference in travelling allowance made to Woodville and Bumiythorpe Clubs. The Rugby Council then awoke and I understand opened their hearts by giving the Bunnythorpo Club £l. I will point out tho position as to travelling by these two clubs. The train fare is 3s 6d return and bus fare 4s, Woodville to Palmerston North. Tako the highest amount, fifteen players at 4s each, £3. This amount was granted to Woodville. Train fare Is 10d return, bus 2s, Bumiythorpe to Palmerston Nortli; 15 players at 2s each, £1 10s. The amount granted to Bunnythorpe is £l. Why the difference? I would suggest to the Bunnythorpe Club that with the £1 grant they obtain some medals stamped “Justice,” and present them to each member of the council. When the High School and Bunnythorpe match was to he played at Bumiythorpe, why was the Rugby Council or tho Bunnythorpo Club not informed that High School was defaulting? Also, is it not a fact the 1-ligh School players were informed they were not fulfilling their engagement, because they did not get a fair run by tho referee and the Bunnytliorpo supporters, which I defy any person to prove. Nothing more can be said, our Rugby Council now having declared the winners of tho junior competition. They remind me of a Maori race meeting I attended many years back. They started the first race in which were thirteen acceptances. As tho horses were coming up the straight the Maori steward asked who led now. The reply was Pakelia. Another round was ordered and soon after its start ten fell. The Maori steward asked who led now, tho reply being the Maori. The Maori council said, “Finish.” As the public now know the position of tli.o governing body of Rugby football in the Manawatu I say farewell, dear council, farewell, until time shall be no more.— 1 am, etc., RUGBY SPORT.

P.S.—I wish to congratulate tho Woodville team on their win. It is not them I am fighting, only the “Big 5” on tho Manawatu Rugby Council.—“R.S.”
