LATE MRS LEYDON.
SERVICE AT ST. PATRICK’S
CHURCH
Prior to the cortege leaving tor the Palmerston North cemetery tins morning, a solemn and beautiful Requiem High Mass was celebrated at St. Patricit’s Church in memory ot the late Mrs E. J. Leydon. Rev. Father Schaefer, of “Highden,” was the celebrant.; Rev. latlier Broughton, of Feiiding, was deacon; Rev. Father Lysaglu, ot St. Patrick’s College, subdeacon, and Rev. Father Henauan was master of ceremonies. The choir was under the control ot Rev. Father P. J. Herlihy, who was assisted by Rev. F'ather Brennan, ot Foxton, Rev. Father Meriaruy, of St. Mary’s, Wellington, Rev. Father Cahill, ot the Basilica, Wellington, and Rev. F'ather Oaslimim, ot Rumania, while its membership was further augmented by the men’s choir from the Holy Name Society. Miss Cora Bartlett, L.A.8., presided at the organ and at- the conclusion of the service played the “Dead March” (Saul).
A cortege of 40 vehicles followed the hearse to the cemetery, where there was another large gathering of residents who assembled to pay their last respects. Right Rev. Monsignor MacManus_ conducted the graveside service. the pall-bearers were Mr Robin Hood (representing the St. Vincent de Paul Society), Mr T. Hunt (representing the 3rd Order of St. F'rancis), Mr A. Hickmott (representing St. Patrick’s choir). Mr L. J. Leydon, brother of the bereaved husband, Mr J. E. Gamble, brother-in-law, and Mr G. B. Cope, an esteemed triend of the family. A wealth of floral tributes demonstrated the high esteem and love entertained for the deceased lady.
