CENTRAL SCHOOL CERTIFICATES.
PRESENTED TO PUPILS,
Swimming and life-saving certificates were presented to pupils ot tne Central School to-tlay "*f® n chairman of the school committee (Mr W. G. Black; presided at Oie gather ing held in the school, in tb avoidable absence of Mr W. L. * herbert (president of the Manawat branch of the Royal Life-Saving cietv). , . -11Mr Black stated that this year H-J certificates had l>een won, conipaieu with 49 last year. He expressed the hope that many pupils would qualify next year. , Swimming certificates were presented bv Mr A. 1). Campbell (president of the Manawatu Centre of the Zealand Swimming Association; wno stressed the value of proficiency m long distance swimming, and mentioned the success achieved by A®" Zealanders such a.s Miss L.
