CYCLE RACING.

PROFESSIONAL EVENT. Despite the adverse weather conditions, there were eight entrants m the Counties’ Cash Cycling Club s 25-mile Boucher Cup road race on Saturday. The course was over the Foxton Line, Karere Road and Longburn-Rongotea Road and back to the starting point in Church Street. French, the limit rider, rode a solo race, coming home a winner by just under half a minute. Christensen, Ganderton, Jones and Collins fought out a sterling finish tor the minor places, split seconds separating these riders. Jennings and xvicn.ards were next home. Following is the result of the race: —T. French (16 min.), 77min. 40sec, 1; J. Christensen (7min.), 67min. 25sec, 2; A. Ganderton (ljmin.), 63min. 55 l-sscc 3. Also started: W. Collins, T, Richards (li min.), C. Jennings Gunn.), A. Jones (7min), A. L. Jeftnes (6min). A Ganderton received the fastest time prize.

AMATEUR RACE. Twelve riders faced the starter in the Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club’s race on Saturday, when the course was three times round the Gillespie’s Line block. The riders left from the corner of Rangitikei and Featherston Street and proceeded along Rangitikei and No. 4 Lines and Boundary Road. The first man home was Pillenger, who beat Davey narrowly in the sprint home. Wickham finished third. Lawrence made fastest time, completing the course in 51min. 3osec. Davey and Walker made second and third fastest times. Rodgers led all the way unW the final sprint, when he failed to keep up with the others who had a reserve of energy. Mulford, a Wellington rider, gave an exceptionally good display, although he had not been riding for some time. In the final dash he had to withdraw owing to cramp.
