MANAWATU CLUB’S COMPETITIONS JUNE BOGEY DECIDED. Although there was an excellent entry for the Manawatu Golf Club’s June bogey handicap at Hokowhitu on Saturday, the uninviting conditions in the late afternoon resulted in a. number of the competitors declining to fulfill their rounds and comparatively few cards were handed in. The detailed results were: A. grade.—W. L. Fitzherbert, 2 down; A. E. R. Joblin, 3 down; N. G. Ingham, 4 down; P. G. Cope, 5 down; O. H. Williams, 5 down; Dr. Hooper, 6 down; J. F. Field, 6 down. B grade.—Major Potter, 2 down; WW. Smith, 3 down; E. A. Hamilton, 5 down; J. W. Rodden, 6 down; A. C. Anderson, 6 down.

MEDAL COMPETITION

Members of the Palmerston North Golf Club were engaged in a medal competition on Saturday and despite the fact that the course was heavy and playing conditions far from favourable, some good cards were handed in, the best being:—H. McKay, 9q—--28—67; A. E. Guy, 76—6—/0; RBrien. 91—20—71; L. G. Sinclair, 99 28 —7i; W. D. Reid, 97 —24 —73; D. Douglas, 97—24—73; R. Ramsay, 88— 14 —74- D. McPherson, 99 —24—75, J. Stevens, 90-14-76; R. L. L°oney, 92 —16—76; J. Thompson, 107—30—77, B. Marsack, 96--18 —/8; G. Galhs, 108—30—78; T. Pain, 89—10—/9. A GOOD EFFORT. Although beaten by a long handicap player, A. E. Guy recorded an excellent performance in the medal competition by completing the round in 76. He required three putts at the last two greens, yet was able to return two 38’s.
