BULLS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) DULLS, May 19. Bulls (black) and Athletic (red and black) juniors met on tho Bulls Domnin on Wednesday afternoon in fino weather beforo a fair number of spectators. The visitors were much too hcayy for the local lads, and won by 11 points to 6. Athletic kicked off from tho eastern end, but Bulls had tho bettor of tho oponing play, Guy breaking through several times, but not being supported. Tho red forwards charged back, but a freo kick enabled Boran to clear. The homo forwards passed well, and the ball went ■ out to Sevan,' who was grassed near the line. Tho red forwards again attacked and Taylor had a fruitless shot at goal. Tho rods came through again, Savillo waiting for tho bounce, which beat him, and Wilkie raced up and scored under tho posts. Taylor converted. Bromloy, with a long kick, sot up an attack and Stock cross-kicked in front of Athletic’s posts. Bulls tried hard to get over but the visitors forced. Another big kick by Bromley beat tho opposing fullback, but nobody followed up and a chance was lost. Bulls ' forwards dribbled through, and a freo gave Stock a chance to raise tho flags. Half-time soundod with tho score: Athletic 5, Bulls 3. Bulls commenced tho second spell with a scries of attacks, but a forco down and touch-in-goal savod tho reds. Wilson secured and ran up, but potted ineffectually when he had a chance cf going over. There was up and down play in Athlotic’s favour, and from a scrum in the corner the ball camo out on tho blind sido to Taylor, who got over. His kick at goal foil short. Shortly afterwards a scrum was formed on tho home, lino, and Stantiall emerged from the scramble to score an easy try. Taylor’s kick again wont astray. Forwards of each side attacked in turn, Bulls forcing twice. From a kick out _ Stock followed up fast and caught Wilson in possession. A freo kick to Bulls saw Stock goal, and the game ended: Athletic 11, Bulls 6. Mr El Westwood refereod. Bulls Rugby seniors to play Athletic, at Marton on Saturday are: D. Camoron, L. Homes, Dwyer, Crosland, Escott, R. Guy, Cooper, Cirtts, Cater, Tato, Preston, Lunn, Cole, Bromley, W. Wereta and Prichard. Bulls thirds to play Hunterville, at Bulls: P. Brown, H. Haycock, Teko, T. Dwyer, Ray Ellery, R. Hart, T. Ellery, J. Langdon, R. Langdori, A. Kemp, F. Howard, Ron Ellery, G. Ellery, D. Henderson and N. Edwards.
Tho Town Hall supper room was crowded on Tuesday evening when Miss Freda Cults, who is to be married shortly, was accorded a “kitchen”' evening by her many friends. A very enjoyable evening was spenut in dancing and card playing, and a bdunteous supper was served. The spot waltz was won by Miss R. Sharp and Mr F. Cutts, junr., and tho Monte Carlo by Misses E. Cooper and Minnie Kearney. Mr H. Burtt contributed recitations. The guest of the evening was showered with good wishes, and, many very useful presents were handed to "her. In spito of many counter attractions there was a very fair attendance at the Ohakea Miniature Rifle Club's danco on Tuesday night. Prizes for euchro were won by Miss M. Taylor and Mr B. Meads, and the consolation prizes went to Mrs Robinson and Mr A. Wilson.
