MISS AMY JOHNSON.

CONDEMNS STUNT FLIGHTS. On her return to London from South Africaj Miss Amy Johnson, the British aviatrix, declared that she would never do another long, lone flight. “I have lost patience with stupid stunt flights.” she said, “and want to devote myself to commercial aviation. I hope Mr J. A. Mollison will not attempt an Atlantic flight.” Mr Mollison, who is continuing his plans for a Transatlantic flight, said in reply, that such efforts were not stunts. “They show the world what British machines can do,” he said. “Miss Johnson should realise that her own flights have done tremendous good for British aviation.”

Since the foregoing was cabled to Australia Miss Johnson and Mr Mollison have become engaged. “Welcome, Mr Mollison; I think you’re wonderful, you hero,” was the enthusiastic welcome received by the Scottish flyer from Miss Johnson on his dramatic arrival at Capetown after his recent record-breaking flight. Miss Johnson, who was visiting South Africa, later admitted that the aviator looked “washed out.” At the same time, Clare, Countess Cowley, took particular care to make public a denial of the reported engagement of Mollison to her daughter. Lady Diana Wellesley, for -which, said the countess, there was not the slightest foundation. Mollison later, on being questioned on Countess Cowley’s statement, merely remarked: “It is a question of the eternal triangle.”
