OBITUARY.

E (From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, April 20. F The passing of Mrs Augusta Juliana BBtern, who died a few days ago, was not iunoxpectcd. Long months of suffering Kvero endured with a patient and cheery fcpirit. Born in Germany, the deceased Hady camo to New Zealand with her parrents 56 years ago. Their first home in tho fcolony was near Bulls, and they afterwards [moved to Rongotca, whero they shared all [the ups and downs of tho pioneer families. [She became the wife of Mr C. Stern and there wore two sons and three daughters, lono of whom passed away about four [years ago. By kindnoss of heart and hclpf'fui ways the late Mrs Stern endeared herself to her family, and a wide circle of friends. The funeral took placo to-day. After a brief service at tho house, tho cortege left for tho cemetery, where Rev. H. 11. To Punga spoke to tho largo company assembled on tho words of tho Apostlo [Paul, as recorded in Romans 6 —23: —“Tho [■wages of sin is death, but tho gift of God [is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” He pointed out that, to carry a [wife to tho grave was a sorrowful task, but the God of love had promised.that he would hot forget thsc who wero deprived of their earthly comforter. He urged those present to earnestly consider tho words of tho [text. The sympathy of tho ontiro community has been extended to Mr Stern and family in their bereavement.
