AFFAIRS OF KREUGER AND TOLL
ACCOUNTANT’S DISCLOSURES
Received April 7, 8.5 a.m. STOCKHOLAi, April 6. A sensation lias been caused by the publication of a report from an eminent firm of British accountants in regard to the affairs of Kreuger and Toll, revealing that assets were entered in the accounts which did not exist in reality. The true financial position was grossly misrepresented. The Social Democrat leader in the Riksdag, Air Engberg, declared: “AA’e have on the table of the House a terrible document which will strike awe in the whole world. AVo must make it clear that Sweden has finished with financial politics of this kind.” SAA’EDISH PRESS CONDEAINATION Received April 7, 11.30 a.m. LONDON, April 6. The Times’s Stockholm. correspondent, contrasting the eulogies published concerning the late Air Kreuger last month, with whom leading newspapers sympathised as a constructive genius and a victim of the world crisis, says that the Swedish Press now describe him as a scoundrel. The Government organ, Svenska Alorgonbladet, says: “Kreuger is exposed as an adventurer of enormous proportions, perhaps unparalleled in economic history.”
