PHAR LAP’S DEATH

SYMPTOMS DEVELOP RAPIDLY. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right.) Received April G, 2.20 p.m. NEW YORK, April 5. P.liar Lap was stricken this morning, and tho symptoms developed so rapidly that tiie veterinary surgeons were unable to counteract them and tiro horse died at 2.20 o’clock in the afternoon. The news of the death of the famous horse was withheld for an hour. At the time of the horse’s death Mr D. JDavis was en route to Los Angeles. The attendants were unable immediately to notify him. Pliar Lap was brought to Mr E. Perry’s farm for the forthcoming race at Tanforan—the Tanforan Handicap. Mr Neilson, the veterinary surgeon, directed tho efforts to save Pliar Lap’s life. He was visibly moved by the death, as were tho attendants.
