PAHIATUA
PAHIATUA. Fell. 23. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last evening. The chairman, Mr Taylor, pointed out that owing to the increase in the secondary roll this year the headmaster had fouiid difficulty in accommodating the pupils and in some cases threo were necessarily seated at desks meant only for two. To overcome the difficulty some old desks had been hurriedly recommissioned and bocauso of their urgent need had boon repaired locally and tho account sent on to tho board. Now tho board had written refusing to accep liability for tho amount as tho approval of tho board had not first boon sought.—Members wore very indignant at tho board’s unreasonable attitude. The matter had been one of urgency and the account was considered a very reasonable one. Mr W.‘ H-. Murch said that as far as he was concerned, if the board refused to meet this legitimate expenditure ho would feel very much like tolling them to get another committee to carry on in Pahiatua. —Other members supported this attitude. The chairman Baid ho was of tho same mind as Mr Murch. If the board maintained this ridiculous front then tho committee would certainly resign.—Tho chairman was instructed to adviso the board to this effect.
