MOTOR SPEED TESTS.
FURTHER PREPARATIONS.
Per Press Association. NINETY-MILE BEACH, Feb. 24. During the past two days the beach has improved considerably and although Mr Reid, who has lived at the beach all liis life, says it will not be perfect for about a fortnight, Mr “Wizard” Smith stated this morning that if the conditions were good this afternoon he would take the car out, and in that case would probably attempt the five-mile and ten-kilometre record. It is now possible that Mr Smith will attempt the two records on the same run as Mr Kelvin Cuff, of Auckland, has’ constructed a third track switch built of spare parts. This job, together with the other timing arrangements, will be tested this afternoon before low tide and that side of the venture will be ready should Mr Smith decide to do something.
