BOWLING AT ROTORUA.
SECOND DAY OF PAIRS v y' TOURNAMENT. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) ... rotorua, Feb. 23. There was glorious sunshine and a slight, breeze for .the second day’s play in the Rotorua 'bowling tournament. - - . Drawing a bye in the fifth round, the Palmerston North pair (J. H. Nash and C. D. Fraser) had but two games to play. In the fourth round they met Holland (Huntly),' there being even scoring throughout.’ The Huntly skip resorted ,to smashing the heads from the commencement and on the eighteenth, when Palmerston North were lying three with the. score 17—16 against them, Holland scattered the bowls to get three. Palmerston North scored on two of the remainder and Holland on one, arid on the twentieth Palmerston North bad a good chance to equalise, but the opposing skip drew the second shot, the game ending 21— 18 in Holland’s favour. / In the sixth round Palmerston North met and easily beat Blackburn (Gisborne) by 30—12, the winners drawing well throughout. M. Walker (Auckland) is leading in this section with six wins.
The Northern Bowling Club will be represented by the following rinks on the Northern greens at 5.15 o’clock on Thursday evening in a match with the Takaro Club for the Takaro-Teraki Cup:—H.
